Function


The heating or cooling output is produced by cu/al convectors supplied with LPHW (central heating boiler) or LPCW (water chiller) via a 2-pipe or 4-pipe system. Energy-efficient EC crossflow fans for 'whisper-quiet' operation and energy-savings.

Design


All engineering components are accommodated within the ready-to-install floor duct which doubles as a condensation tray. Katherm HK units are fitted with energy-efficient EC motors and are available in a variety of models for various outputs. 'Optiline' roll-up grilles give the unit a stylish appearance.
 

EC-Technology

 
EC drives can be operated across a considerably expanded rotational speed range due to the intelligently integrated power electronics. The demand-compliant room climate control with lower rotational speed is particularly advantageous when installed in living rooms, offices and hotel buildings. The lower rotational speed and the resultant reduction in the volume of air flowing through fans is hugely advantageous from a noise perspective in particular.

The intelligent motor management is also able to evaluate possible motor faults and take protective measures automatically, for example by reducing the fan speed or switching off the drive. If required, a fault signal can be issued and evaluated by a Building Management System.
 
Saving energy and hence also saving operating costs is yet a further reason for buying these units! That's why we use GreenTech EC fans manufactured by ebm-papst in our underfloor systems, which offer energy savings of up to 50% alongside whisper-quiet operation.

Katherm HK units are operated for long periods of time, which is why energy-savings are especially noticeable here. Our underfloor systems save up to 50% energy compared with conventional AC fans by using GreenTech EC fans from ebm-papst. Their whisper-quiet operation and individual controllability also enhance user comfort. Take advantage of our knowledge and expertise in the field of efficient heating technology.

KaControl

Description

 
The combination of EC technology and KaControl stands for maximum energy efficiency, as the advantages of the EC fan can be ideally used in operation thanks to the continuous fan control by the KaControl technology.

At the same time, the air conditioning system that is operated at low fan speed to meet demand is advantageous especially in residential properties, offices and hotels.
The ability to reduce the fan speed and thus also the air volume of the fans is of huge
significance in terms of noise levels.

Kampmann Katherm HK with KaControl control are fully wired and delivered ex-works complete with all of their electrical components fitted. An effective parameterisable microprocessor provides all of the requisite functions, thus every Katherm HK has its own "intelligence" and can be operated in groups via Kampmann-t-Lan or CANbus networks.

KaControl Katherm HK can be fitted with plug-in communications interfaces for single room control or for connection to higher-order management systems. Every basic unit therefore has the potential to be integrated into a technical building automation network.

  • Temperature recording via KaController or external room sensor
  • Automatic continuous fan control according to room temperature
  • Maximum fan speed set via potentiometer on the PCB
  • Noiseless valve actuation via electronic relays
  • Motor fault evaluation, condensation alarm
  • Room frost protection function by monitoring of room temperature in every state to a limit value of 8°C
  • Frost protection function by fitting optional clip-on temperature sensor
  • Changeover function in 2-pipe system (heating/cooling) via an external potential-free contact or clip-on temperature sensor
  • Actuation by means of 0-10 V signal from an external BMS
  • Connection to open BMS system by optional interfaces (BACnet, Modbus)
 

System configuration 

 
Control zones with up to 6 Katherm HK can be connected to a KaController via simple 2-wire bus connection.
 
 
 
Control zones with up to 30 Katherm HK can be connected to a KaController via a CANbus connection.

Where are Katherm HK generally used?

 
Katherm HK for heating and cooling are indeal for all areas of buildings that require to be heated in winter and cooled in summer due to sun entering through large expanses of glazing. Many years of experience have shown, with the latter, that Katherm HK provides efficient and cost-effective cooling.
 
 

Which systems are possible with Katherm HK units?

 
LPHW and LPWW are used for heating, either in a 2-pipe system or a 4-pipe system.
 
 

Which fans are used in Katherm HK units?

 
Energy-efficient EC crossflow fans are used that utilise the available energy to the maximum. Particularly at lower fan speeds, they are far superior to conventional split pole motors. Operating them at low fan speed enables the units to be operated with very low sound levels.
