Function
The core component of the Kampmann KLIMANAUT is a high-capacity, patented crossflow heat exchanger based on KLIMANAUT technology. In cooling mode, the unit's operation is based on the principle of indirect evaporation cooling that operates on the principle of two separate streams of air without the addition of humidity to the primary air stream. Water evaporation only takes place in the process air stream on the hydrophilic layer of the aluminium fins of the heat exchanger, otherwise absolute humidity remains unchanged.
The outside hydrophilic coating of the aluminium fins is sprinkled with droplets water at periodic intervals of between three and four minutes. This takes place without forming a mist so that there is no risk of legionella. Warm air flows past the inside of the fins and they heat up as a result. Evaporation takes place due to the movement of air along the moist outer coating, Heat is thus drawn off the fins again and they cool by releasing moisture. The exhaust air from the unit is carried off outside.

EC Technology
KLIMANAUT INDOOR 400 WRG units can be are operated for many hours at part-load but the trend is moving towards demand-led ventilation based on the air quality (CO2 measurement). Energy-efficiency is important particularly in the part-load range. The integral intelligent motor control also displays all of the unit's key operating data, so that any unusual events can be highlighted and evaluated, if necessary, using efficiency programs. These events can include malfunctions, changes of fan speed and above all electrical user data, such as current and power consumption.
This aspect will become increasingly important in the foreseeable future, as statutory regulations are demanding increasingly detailed proof of the energy-efficiency of building services systems.
Saving energy and hence also saving operating costs is yet a further reason for buying these units! That's why we use GreenTech EC fans manufactured by ebm-papst in our KLIMANAUT INDOOR 400 WRG units, which offer energy savings of up to 50% alongside whisper-quiet operation. Certificate of "Components suitable for use in a passive house"
The renowned Dr. Wolfgang Feist Passive House Institute has certified the INDOOR 400 WRG as a "Component suitable for use in a passive house" following a lengthy test process. The product complied with all criteria, including comfort, power and heat efficiency, air tightness and heat insulation and interior air hygiene. The INDOOR 400 WRG's innovative cooling function received particular mention in the appendix to the certificate.
"Laboratory Dr. Rabe Hygiene Consult" certificate
The Dr. Rabe Laboratory confirmed that the Kampmann ventilation units INDOOR 400 WRG comply with the hygiene requirements of the VDI Regulation 6022 Sheet 1 (Hygiene requirements of ventilation systems and units).

FAQ
Does the humidity not increase when cooling with water?
No, the cooling system uses only the evaporation heat of the water for cooling, the humidity is immediately absorbed into the extract air and is carried off outside.
I want to enjoy the freshness of outside air in summer but do not want to heat up the inside air with the heat of the outside air!
That's precisely what the KLIMANAUT cooling system is for - supplying cool air when ventilating in summer and carrying the heat away outside.
I would like to supply indoors with fresh outside air in winter but do not want to waste the warmth indoors.
By combining the functions of the KLIMANAUT heat exchanger, the heat from the contaminated exhaust air is transferred to the fresh supply air.
