Air flow laboratory

Simulation of a room climate

The walls, floor and ceiling of the air flow laboratory can be heated and cooled independently of each other and the air humidity can also be set as required, enabling the air and room conditions in planned buildings to be simulated precisely in order to supply detailed information about the effect of the heating, cooling or ventilation units used. This applies for performance data and also for air flows in the room or comfort analyses.

Various systems are used to visualise the air flows and the walls are transparent so that this can also be observed from outside of the room.

All of the relevant measurements are recorded on the computer at the same time and are available for evaluation or further analyses depending on the requirements.

The room is designed in such a way that two units can be tested at the same time with completely different room conditions. The high modularity of the room allows individual elements to be removed from all perimeter surfaces and special fittings to be used according to customer requirements. Examples of these include ceiling swirl or linear diffusers or floor ducts. The room can be adapted in all three directions and adjusted to the room geometries required - even angled and complex facade surfaces have already been created.

Units with a fresh air intake (e.g. Kavent BA plus or Venkon S - Mixed Air) are potentially exposed to extreme climatic conditions in summer or winter. These can be set up in the climate simulation units or climate chamber by means of connectors in order to simulate real operating situations.
